Sustainable production and delivery: from sand to customer
In addition to the major steps already taken, more sustainability ambitions are being developed by Cladding Point.

Sustainable production and delivery: from sand to customer

At Cladding Point, sustainable really is sustainable. From sand to customer, we can produce and deliver under ISO14001 and BES6001. This gives architects and contractors an important advantage in winning tenders. And with certified products, clients can distinguish themselves from competitors who often get no further than greenwashing.

Reducing waste is one of the crucial climate and environmental issues, begins director Harry van der Veen. The director of Cladding Point has recently invested in sustainability for and through the entire chain. "This allows us to give unique guarantees within the cladding industry. Our products, from sand to customer, can be produced and delivered under ISO14001 and BES6001. Guarantees that the law does not yet require, but the market is increasingly enforcing." To actually certify the sustainable policy from sand to customer, Van der Veen engaged COR (Circular Organization for Rebuild) consultancy. "With us, therefore, sustainability is not a marketing slogan but a reality."

Closed return flow

The promise "Simplicity and Certainty" is central to the way Cladding Point works. Van der Veen: "You shouldn't try to reinvent the wheel, but make the wheel rounder and rounder. To reduce waste, we are working extensively to set up and apply closed return systems for reuse of our products. Indeed, Cladding Point's facade panels are not only widely used in new construction projects, but also in renovation or expansion projects. Not infrequently, this involves replacing old sandwich panels of our own or another brand. We are working hard to achieve 100% circular construction with our products in the near future, this even with the possibility of the very highest subsidies in Europe."

Fully recyclable

Re-use is not the only option on the sustainability ladder. With its sandwich panels that are at the end of their life cycle, Cladding Point offers the option of a take-back guarantee. Van der Veen explains: "We disassemble them responsibly. All parts, steel, foam and rock wool are renewable. For the recycling of rock wool, we have contracts with rock wool producers. The steel can be mixed infinitely times with new iron ore. And the recovered rigid foam gets a new life as floor, cavity or roof insulation." Of course, our own business processes are also certified. "All our employees are educated and trained in what is and is not allowed. In addition, much of the transportation goes by train. Both the supply of raw materials to our company and the delivery of the sandwich panels to our relations."

Material Passport

In addition to the major steps already taken, more sustainability ambitions are being developed. For example, each panel will have its own material passport, making all characteristics identifiable in a detailed database. A process is also being set up to recover even saw waste from the construction site. Van der Veen: "We are going to approach the entire construction chain, from the architect sitting with the builder to the contractor. The goal: to convince everyone that low cost per square meter looks nicer at first, but that sustainability pays much more in the long run. In money, but also in the added value of corporate social responsibility."
