VKG Keurmerk represents the interests of suppliers and manufacturers of plastic window frames. Member companies and partners are part of a closed chain of quality through which clients are guaranteed a proven high-quality end result with top products and top service. VKG Keurmerk works every day to facilitate members to permanently guarantee this quality and strengthen the position of members. 

The four certainties VKG Keurmerk suppliers offer their clients and end customers are quality, warranty & guarantee fund, control & transparency, and sustainability. "To this end we work continuously on innovation in the field of product quality, provide training and education opportunities for (further) training of mechanics and offer knowledge," says Edwin van Houten, VKG Keurmerk branch manager. Regarding quality, VKG does not take half measures. "Our conditions are stricter than the European applicable laws and regulations regarding plastic window frames."

Always up-to-date

VKG monitors product and process quality by considering the entire chain. "While suppliers and manufacturers form the heart of our association, suppliers of glass, adhesives, sealants, foams, set frames, hinges and locks, among others, are also partner members. The VKG Quality Requirements & Recommendations form the basis of quality assurance for the industry. Periodic inspections ensure that the entire chain meets these requirements. Members are also kept informed of relevant market developments and laws and regulations. All VKG's activities are aimed at keeping the branch future-proof in which members can operate successfully. To this end, VKG initiates sector-wide research such as the recently published report on the 'Total Cost of Ownership' of window frames. This research shows that plastic is much more economical in the long term than wooden or aluminum window frames." 

So as a member company you are always up-to-date, also in terms of legislation and regulations. Moreover, you hitch a ride on VKG Keurmerk's marketing and communication campaigns. "We continuously work on our online authority and offer member companies their own page within the VKG website where consumers and business parties can search for a supplier. Members are also involved in activities to strengthen the value of the quality mark and can have a say in policy twice a year at the General Members' Meeting."

Warranty

As an umbrella trade association, VKG Hallmark ensures compliance with the standard 10-year warranty offered by member companies. "The VKG Guarantee Fund is a guarantee fund for all projects carried out within the quality mark. It offers certainty, particularly to private individuals and owners of residential buildings, that the down payment is guaranteed and it provides a guarantee of compliance. If a technical problem arises after nine years, it is neatly resolved. Even if the initial supplier is no longer in business. Incidentally, we are clear about the delivery conditions, bundled in the VKG Delivery and Warranty Conditions. Member companies can make free use of the VKG Opleverapp, in which the work and results are registered on completion. If everything is in order, a completion file with VKG Keurmerk certificate rolls out." 

Technical advice

VKG Keurmerk is also a knowledge center. "Member companies can always knock on the door for technical advice or a guaranteed solution to an anomalous situation. For example, a member company recently faced a challenge where the window frame could not be screwed on in a conventional way because of the underlying construction. This would possibly cause drainage problems. Together we arrived at a solution with a sealing that conformed to the requirements, on which we could confidently issue a 10-year warranty." And speaking of challenges, should something eventually go wrong, VKG offers an independent dispute committee. "A technical inspector assesses the situation and mediates a solution. That gives peace of mind for both parties."

Another argument for considering VKG membership are the extensive training and education opportunities, including the Montageschool Kunststof Kozijnen. "It is a VKG and ROC apprenticeship program intended for starters and lateral entrants and for professionals who want to expand their knowledge. The 6-month course is completed with an exam. The 2-day VKG Montage course delivers the assembly certificate. The latter is compulsory for all fitters of a VKG member company. Our inspector checks everyone at least once a year and from 2025 we will go to at least twice a year. This is how we keep the bar high and offer quality and security at all times."
