Profile-independent press for aluminum windows and doors

New horizontal CNC-controlled 4-head press

The name Soenen Hendrik was originally synonymous with high-quality machines for processing plastic profiles. Today, however, the family business has a strong reputation worldwide in the development and production of automated, high-tech machining centers and production lines for windows and doors in plastic as well as aluminum. A new horizontal CNC-controlled 4-head press now completes that aluminum story.

"Plastic windows and doors have been produced fully automatically for some time, but aluminum systems still required a lot of manual work. Thanks to our advanced production lines in combination with sorting machines and tipping tables, a large part of that production process could already take place fully automatically. However, the demand increased for a solution with which the next phase in the process, namely pressing, could be automated," says sales representative Pepijn Carlier.

Thanks to this innovative horizontal CNC-controlled 4-head press, the production of aluminum windows and doors can now be fully automated.

"We did not proceed overnight, thought carefully about the functionalities that such a system should include and looked for solutions to the weaknesses of other existing systems in the market. Our engineers worked closely with customer Samyn (Dadizele). We proudly present the result: an innovative, profile-independent horizontal CNC-controlled 4-head press equipped with 38 numerically controlled axes. This machine has since been in full operation at Samyn for several months."

According to the machine builder, any operator can start working with the machine immediately. One of the profiles to be pressed is scanned, causing the preparation table to set up. This is followed by automatic feed to the four heads and the corners are pressed fully automatically. Each head has eight CNC axes with extremely high accuracy to deliver perfectly pressed corners. Pressed windows are done fully automatically with a tilting table. When pressing doors, two press heads can be used to create a U-shape. Due to the large number of CNC axes, the number of possible configurations of windows and doors is very large.

"Under the motto 'Going further, doing more,' we have left nothing to chance with this machine either. The press parameters can be set and controlled for each head individually on the control panel screen. The result is perfect press quality with very stable pressed corners," explains Pepijn. "As with our other systems, this machine is also based on a robust, uncompromising construction. The knowledge is in the machine itself. All elements are pressed fully automatically and flawlessly. Thanks to this new development, the translation from plastic to aluminum is now almost complete."
