Both in the private sector and in large-scale utility projects, clients are increasingly choosing more often for automated shutters and blinds. The technical solutions must not only be of high quality, but also energy-efficient and convenient. In this regard, BECKER manages to convince time and again by perfectly integrating its SMI motors into a KNX environment, the worldwide standard for building automation.
BECKER's SMI tube motors -SMI stands for Standard Motor Interface- offer numerous advantages, including easy installation, a choice of multiple cable lengths, a variety of control options, high-precision status reporting, automatic fabric compensation, fabric release and lockout recognition.
BECKER has an SMI actuator in its product range that is used in combination with shutters and awnings. Depending on the shading application, up to sixteen drives can be connected in parallel with this SMI actuator. This significantly reduces installation work - and thus costs. The drive and control are connected via a five-wire line that ensures secure power supply and data transmission; and that over a distance of up to 350 meters!
Setting exact intermediate positions and retrieving the current position and status message is also very easy. All in all, this makes it possible to fully enjoy automated working and living. Also, thanks to SMI technology, configuration can be done very easily on mobile devices, such as the Bluetooth app available for free from Google Play and the Apple App Store.
SMI drives are available in several types: P (Ø38 mm), R (Ø45 mm) and L (Ø58 mm). These include tubular motors from 5 to 120 Nm for both indoor and outdoor blinds and shutters. The good thing is that no external KNX module is required, as it is integrated into the SMI motors. Moreover, the motors are user-friendly, making it easy for the awning specialist to adjust them himself. In short, with its advanced drives and controls, BECKER makes automating project blinds significantly easier.
