Nordiawerf, Aalsmeer | Cooperation from the first moment extra motivating in realizing luxury apartments

At the very start of the realization of the luxury apartment complex Nordiawerf in Aalsmeer, Lieftink Geveltechniek was part of the construction team. According to commercial director Joost Plompen, this way of working together has a favorable effect on the realization of a construction project. 

Lieftink, with its own factory and coating facility in Alphen aan den Rijn, had already entered into discussions with contractor Vink+Veenman, client Zo-AL Projectontwikkeling and ENZO Architects at the end of 2016. This time Lieftink was allowed to take on the design and realization of the window frames and glass for the apartment complex that features six apartments in three different residential units.

Finishing level

Says Plompen, "Not only in terms of the floor space of 300 square meters, but also in terms of the level of finishing, the apartments have a luxurious look." The homes at Nordiawerf feature a double garage and all have a mooring for boats. The large striking glass facades on the waterfront give the properties extra cachet. Where spaces require extra privacy, there are slats between the glazing so no separate blackout needed to be placed behind the windows.

The commercial director derived great satisfaction from thinking along and designing the window frames. "You see more and more often that companies can translate a client's wishes directly into a design solution. This allows us to connect much closer at the wish level to what a client or architect actually wants."

Corner at sliding doors disappears

Lieftink supplies window frame systems from the German company Schüco, which is highly regarded for its quality in the market. According to Plompen, the façade supplier's products are particularly suitable for the apartment complex in Aalsmeer. "With Schüco's products you can fulfill wishes really well. Not only because of the high level of finishing, but also because of the special sliding doors." The doors, which are located on the waterfront, are arranged at an angle. From this angle, two doors can be slid open. The intermediate set that normally remains in the corner slides with them.

The free location on the water means that the homes must be resistant to weather conditions. In combination with the large areas of glass, Lieftink made the window frames water- and wind-proof. "With properties like this, no one needs to be restricted in their choice of design. A lot of things are possible. We proved that with Nordiawerf."

The apartments, adjacent to the water, are an eye catcher in Aalsmeer.

Lead time

Lieftink was commissioned to start work during the design phase. This allows early communication on construction preparation. "That ensures fast turnaround times," he said. The director also saw this perception among Lieftink's employees, in the engineering department and during assembly: "When given the opportunity to consult with clients, construction really becomes a celebration."

Plompen is convinced that trust is a key word in this way of working. "That trust was there from all parties involved. The construction industry also sees the benefits. No one can crawl away the moment something is not right, everyone bears responsibility themselves."

In the fall of 2018, residents moved into their new homes.
