These days, glass balustrades are unmissable in construction projects, whether it's a balcony, roof terrace or loft. When designing homes, transparency and light have become increasingly important. The extensive range of UNIQ profiles for glass balustrades meets these growing demands from the construction industry. In addition, they are particularly versatile. Thus, there is an individual solution for every application, both for private use and for applications in public buildings.
The 1kN series consists of four different profiles. UNIQ SB-O1 and SB-A1 are profiles often used in new construction situations. These profiles are the ideal solution when one wants a balustrade without visible profiles. For the finishing, various caps and covers are available, such as a set of covers with which the profiles can be completely hidden behind sheet material of 3, 12 or 20 mm. There are also the SB-O1S and SB-A1S profiles, the S here standing for Small. These profiles are considerably smaller than the O1 and A1 and are often used in renovation projects, as they are placed on or against a finished floor.
Land area in the Netherlands is becoming scarcer and certainly in the Randstad. As a result, there is a strong growth in stacked construction and higher and higher buildings are being built. The 2kN profile has been specially developed for this purpose, especially for private balconies in places where wind loads are normative. By applying this UNIQ profile, one can in many cases apply thinner glass, which in turn saves costs. To make this clear, the website contains wind tables that show the height to which each profile can be applied.
The UNIQ SB-A3 profiles for side mounting and the UNIQ SB-O3 profiles for top mounting are the strongest profiles in the range. With a line load that goes up to 3 kN/m, they are real powerhouses and are suitable for applications that according to the Building Code fall under the meeting function. These are places where large groups of people gather, such as stadiums, sports buildings, cinemas and theaters.
The UNIQ profiles are also excellent for creating wind screens. For a glass partition that is not intended as fall-through protection or has a constructive purpose, the SB-OXS profile can be used: the same system, the same clean look but smaller in size and therefore an almost inconspicuous yet strong basis for a windbreak up to a maximum height of 90 cm. The SB-O and SB-OS profiles can be used for higher screens such as in the garden or along the terrace, some even up to a height of 180 cm. The final maximum height depends on the substrate and wind load.
Through the configurator on the website, a render of the desired balustrade can be created and downloaded directly for a drawing or BIM program. A specification service is also built into this online feature, so that specifications can be downloaded in any format.
