Developments in facade industry demand leading products

The facade industry has seen many evolutions and this trend will continue for some time. Whereas a facade used to be mainly decorative in nature, today it fulfills a large number of functions. Facade materials are becoming increasingly complex, due to the ever-increasing demands. New possibilities are developing at a rapid pace, giving architects a choice of many new materials and forms for façade application.

"SVK has been a specialist since 1905 in the production of high-quality and durable fiber cement cladding panels, facing bricks, roofing slates, corrugated sheets and architectural concrete for the international construction market." Speaking is Thomas Bossuyt, commercial director at SVK. "We notice an increasing demand for cladding materials that meet well-defined fire-resistant properties. We also see a trend toward facades with a natural look. The products in the SVK facade program combine both of these properties."

The products are more versatile than ever before
"All our facade panels that we market comply with the European fire safety standard (A2-s1d0). An additional advantage is that our boards can be attached both visibly and invisibly. From our base board Puro Plus, we know that there is a demand from the market for fiber cement boards where the natural look is an important aspect. From this perspective, we have continued to expand our range. With the normal Puro Plus board, nature patinates on it, creating a naturally weathered impression.

The new Decoboard Pure line builds on this. This fiber cement board has the look of natural stone combined with a semi-transparent acrylic finish layer, available in three different shades: Gale, Burst & Thunder. In addition, a new slab was added to the mass-colored range: The Color Plus. This mass-colored panel is finished with a tightly opaque acrylic coating. The Colormat range is complemented by two new shades. On the one hand the color Carribean blue, which can give a fresh and summery blue look to building and on the other hand the color Pearl, which reflects a light natural concrete tone."

Thomas concludes, "Naturally, we want our materials to meet the strictest safety criteria and high quality requirements not only aesthetically, but also technically. Because the new SVK cladding panels are hardened naturally, they are extra strong and stable. Our SVK label closely monitors production. At the BAU in Munich, we will show our new products for the first time within Europe. The Netherlands has the premiere at the BouwBeurs. We can be found in Hall 9, booth D066."
