3D facade with natural fiber cement siding

The renovation of the facade of the Cavo Zoe Seaside Hotel in Protaras, Cyprus, used SVK's Puro Plus fiber cement facade board. In the design, the architect chose to work with triangle patterns that are also placed in relief. The project shows that the creative possibilities with fiber cement façade panels from SVK are endless. 

Luxurious Appearance

Located just a short drive from Fig Tree bay and Konnos beach in Cyprus, the Seaside hotel is truly a gem. When renovating the facade, the luxury hotel really wanted to see a striking yet sleek and luxurious design. Not an easy job for the architect, but the result is worth it! 

3D Effect On Façade

Speaking is Anouk Crauwels, Marketing Coordinator at SVK: "In the renovation of the Cavoe Zoe Seaside hotel, SVK's Puro Plus fiber cement cladding panels were used. It is the most natural fiber cement panel on the market. It shows like the natural color of fiber cement without added color pigments and/or coatings. The panel is polished in a way that is unique to SVK's panels. "By combining the Puro Plus fiber cement facade panel with wood and even incorporating light behind it, it gives a huge 3D effect on the facade, even in the dark." The architect chose to work with triangle patterns. Wooden frames were also used to give a modern, clean look to the facade. "But the combination of Puro Plus with the wood also creates a natural look," adds Crauwels. "The facade will also change over time under the influence of the weather, giving it a beautiful look that feels like the facade is alive."

Huge versatility 

"Within the standard dimensions of a plate of 3500 x 1220 mm and 2500 x 1220 mm, anything is actually possible. In addition to sawing all kinds of shapes, our CNC machines can perform various other operations, such as milling into the sheet a house number, relief or a drawing, for example. In this way, a project no longer has any creative boundaries and you can give each building a unique character." Both SVK's Puro Plus and Ornimat boards are also ideally suited for bonding and can be fixed both blindly and visibly well. "They are also non-static; do not attract dirt and are low maintenance. All our fiber cement products meet Fire Class A2, making them virtually incombustible."

Sustainable own creation

"We use only the most reliable raw materials for the production of fiber cement. As a result, the environmental impact on SVK boards is quite low." Crauwels explains, "Everything that is sawn at SVK is ground up and returned to the production process. Even the sanding dust released when polishing the Puro Plus board." Applying that unique process, which involves a slight abrasion on the natural product on the visible side, creates that special cloudy structure. "A unique creation of SVK's own: by polishing, you get a concrete look with a lively pattern but without repetition, because of course it's not a print!"
