Sustainable (solar) sunscreens from the Netherlands

With more than fifty years of experience in the production of solar shading solutions, Projectzonwering Nederland recognizes the trends in the market like no other. "The residents were suffering from heat stress. The homes have excellent insulation, so the heat stays inside much longer. With blinds, the heat is kept out. Because a power supply was lacking, we fitted the homes with solar screens, with the cloth and the box being done in the RAL color of the window frames. It's hardly noticeable."

Efficient and sustainable

Solar blinds are extremely popular at the moment, experiences Hugo. "It makes sense, because you don't have to drill or lay cables. Solar blinds are therefore quickly installed. It is a very efficient and sustainable solution, because you do not consume electricity from the grid. On the box is a solar cell that charges a battery and then drives the motor. Due to local production in the Netherlands, transport distances are minimal. That too is sustainable. We also use sustainable materials, such as aluminum and for the screens we can use the so-called Veozip screen cloth. Veozip is phthalate-free, fully recyclable, Greenguard Gold certified as well as having an FDES (an environmental and health declaration leaflet, ed.)." 

We deliver with our group more than 10,000 solar solutions per year, and we only see the demand increasing, continues Hugo. "Both from individuals and the business market. It's cutting edge for us, because years ago we were one of the first with a solar solution in the range." And that range is only expanding. PZN not only supplies zipper screens on solar, but also roller shutters, drop shutters and awnings on solar. "In that we are quite unique in the market," Hugo says. "And we are developing even more new products on solar."
