Screens: a smart investment

From its branches in Leipheim and Ypres, Sunconfex Group distributes cloth in rolls and made-to-measure for screens, awnings and window cloths. To serve their customers even better, Solaye Fabrics, part of the group, is now further expanding its Duralex collection.

Thanks to its quality, service and speed, Solaye Fabrics has been the reliable textile partner of builders of sun protection systems throughout Europe for ten years. Nevertheless, the company remains committed to growth: in order to offer a wider range of fabrics for outdoor awnings from the beginning of next year, Solaye Fabrics will soon expand its exterior collection.

Substantial advance

"Duralex is gaining momentum," explains commercial director Stephan Martens of Solaye Fabrics. "The brand is well on its way to offering a total package of screen fabrics for zipper systems, thanks to an ever-increasing choice of color, width and blackout. Currently, Solaye Fabrics has ten colors in three widths, which can be delivered immediately from our stock. We are expanding that offer to sixteen colors, a fourth width, a second openness factor as well as a blackout fabric type, because the neutral and timeless shades of the collection are very popular with our European customers."

Excellent value for money

Solaye Fabrics chooses Duralex for several reasons. A first is the quality. Stephan explains: "The quality of Duralex's exterior screens is comparable to that of Alkenz's interior screens, better known to European manufacturers as 'Sunshadow'. The beautiful transparency provides a clear view to the outside."

"Duralex is distinguished from other cloths by its higher UV resistance and thermal resistance," says Stephan. "In addition, the cloths are very resistant to soiling and aging caused by water and wind, for example." The excellent value for money is another advantage. "Duralex cloths are a smart investment because they offer great long-term value," Stephan says.

Sustainable production process

The Duralex collection also stands out with its manufacturing process. "The canvases are designed and manufactured with a focus on sustainability," Stephan continues. "The fiberglass core yarn has to be given a sheath of PVC. Where others apply that sheath by dipping the core yarn in a bath of liquid PVC, we extrude the sheath, making our yarn more rounded. That combination of advanced technologies and high-quality materials makes for an exceptionally long life, and a material that is more uniform and stable. As a result, you have to repair or replace it much less quickly."
