Project awnings: durable customization from the Netherlands

By now everyone agrees on the added value of solar shading. Solar shading not only provides protection from the sun, but also contributes to improved energy efficiency, increased aesthetic value and greater user comfort. Project solar shading in commercial and residential projects, however, requires a thorough approach. Leave that to the experts at Projectzonwering Nederland, part of Barneveld-based Degalux with more than 50 years of experience in the production of sun protection solutions.

Projectzonwering Nederland (PZN) has been officially up and running since 2023, but makes grateful use of the expertise of parent company Degalux. The Dutch manufacturing company has now been in existence for more than 50 years, supplying zipper screens, drop screens, roller shutters and patio screens to consumers through a dealer network. To better focus on the professional market, PZN was established as a separate entity. "Partly because of the short lines of communication with the factory, we are able to relieve clients of all their worries from A to Z," says Hugo Top of Projectzonwering Nederland. "We have the complete package from engineering and production to delivery, assembly, service and maintenance under our own management."

Sustainable

Project awnings are always customized and require a serious approach, believes Hugo, who himself has been working in the project market for many years. "You don't 'just' do that on the side. We are able to engineer a unique solution for every sun protection issue, which is also extremely sustainable. After all, our solar shading products are produced locally in the Netherlands. Transport distances are negligible. We also use sustainable materials, such as aluminum and for the screens we can apply the so-called Veozip screen cloth. Veozip is phthalate-free, fully recyclable, Greenguard Gold certified and provided with an FDES (an environmental and health declaration leaflet, ed.). The screen fabric is always perfectly stretched without wrinkles or waves and because of the special weave, sunlight is perfectly refracted so that glare does not occur," assures Hugo, who adds that solar screens in particular are extremely popular these days. "It is not only durable, but also interesting for renovation or new construction projects, because no drilling holes or cabling are required." 

PZN has since built up quite a portfolio. "For example, we fitted the new office building of Van Beek in Barneveld with 30 zipper screens, and we embellished a new apartment complex in Emmeloord with solar zipper screens. The sleek look of the zipper screens add to the aesthetics of the building and the residents benefit from increased comfort," says Hugo.
