Warema's new Windra 80 WF flat slat is the windiest flat slat currently available on the market. Developed specifically for demanding, wind-exposed facades, the Windra shading system with rail or cable guidance can withstand wind speeds of up to 25 m/s.
An exterior sunshade is the most effective solution when it comes to economic energy management and thermal comfort. The sun's heat input is deflected from the glazing and the interior is effectively protected from overheating. Exterior blinds also offer flexible daylight utilization, as the incidence of sunlight can be individually controlled by the adjustable slat angle. Due to their filigree and discreet appearance, flat slats have proven themselves in architecture. Thanks to the many system variants, the systems with the slim, flat slats can be uncomplicatedly integrated into any construction and are therefore in great demand among planners and clients alike.
Admittedly, wind-stable solutions have long been available for tall buildings, or also generally for facades in wind-exposed locations, such as the Warema exterior blinds with beaded, rail-guided slats or fabric frame screens with stable easyZIP guidance. But in terms of light control and aesthetic design, the Windra slat is the new trendsetter: it combines the elegant slenderness of the flat slat with extraordinary stability and provides flexible light control and reliable heat protection even under high wind loads. Thus, this currently windiest flat slat on the market can play an important role in the energy management of buildings.
The flat slat has a width of 80 mm and retains the optically filigree character of the conventional flat slat. Due to the design in double material thickness and a geometry optimized at the bending radii, the stability of the slat was greatly increased. The side guide can be implemented as a cable or rail guide.
During the development of the Windra rail guide, special attention was paid to the coupling between the guide nipple and the plastic clamping profile. This construction, greatly improved in detail, enables a further marked increase in wind resistance. Warema has applied for a patent for the design principle.
With its filigree geometry and four trend colors as standard (RAL 9006, 9007, 7016 and DB 703), as well as a large number of special slat colors, the new flat slat offers numerous design variations for individual and aesthetic facade design. Planning and integration into common façade constructions in commercial and residential construction can be achieved with Warema sun protection systems in the familiar quality and ease of installation, both with rail guidance and cable guidance.
With lateral guide rails, the strong Windra system withstands loads from wind speeds of up to 25 m/s. However, the variant with cable guidance also withstands increased wind speeds.
With the Windra 80 WF flat slat, the use of external blinds solutions is now also possible in taller buildings and on facades with strong wind loads. Defects due to high wind loads are thus a thing of the past. The extended service life of the external blinds has a positive influence on efficient energy management. And for the user, the familiar indoor comfort remains: daylight and the view to the outside can be individually controlled with the Windra flat slat as usual.
